Adaptive Pants for Easy Dressing & Comfortable Daily Wear

Getting pants on and off shouldn't be a struggle. Our adaptive pants feature full side openings, Velcro and zip fastenings, and discreet catheter-friendly pockets, making dressing easier for people managing post-surgery recovery, arthritis, limited mobility, wheelchair use, or catheter care. No stepping in, no pulling up, no tight waistbands.

  • Full Side Opening

Opens completely from waist to ankle along the side seam, so pants can be wrapped around the leg rather than stepped into or pulled up.

  • Velcro & Zip Fastenings

Large, easy-grip fastenings replace buttons and zips that are difficult to manage with limited dexterity, one hand, or reduced grip strength.

  • Comfortable for Seated Wear

Soft waistbands and roomy cuts are designed to remain comfortable during long periods of sitting, ideal for wheelchair users and those resting during recovery.

Choosing Adaptive Pants: Side-Opening vs Catheter Support

Adaptive pants fall into two main categories at EaseWear: side-opening pants for easier dressing, and catheter-support pants for discreet catheter bag management.

Side-opening pants are ideal during post-surgery recovery, for wheelchair users, or for anyone who finds stepping into and pulling up standard trousers painful or difficult. The full side seam opens completely, making dressing possible without standing or significant hip or knee movement.

Catheter-support pants are designed for people managing a long-term or post-surgical catheter. The built-in pocket, available in internal and external styles, holds the bag securely and out of sight under regular clothing, allowing normal daily activities without discomfort or embarrassment.

Pants FAQs

Can these pants be put on without standing up?

Yes. Our full side-opening pants are designed specifically for seated dressing. They open completely flat along the side, so they can be positioned around the leg while seated in a chair or wheelchair, then fastened with Velcro or zip from the outside. No standing, stepping in, or lifting required.

What is the difference between the Velcro and zip versions?

Both open fully along the side seam. The Velcro version is easier to fasten with one hand or reduced grip strength, and allows micro-adjustment of the fit. The zip version has a cleaner look and may feel more like regular trousers. If dexterity is a concern, we recommend the Velcro option. Both are available in the full side-opening unisex style.

Are these suitable for someone with a hip replacement or leg cast?

Yes! This is one of the most common reasons customers choose our side-opening pants. Because the entire side seam opens, the pants can be placed over a cast, brace, or post-surgical dressing without bending or disturbing the affected area. The Velcro or zip then closes neatly over the top.

What are the catheter pants and who are they for?

We stock two styles of catheter-support pants: one with an internal hidden pocket and one with a discreet external pocket, both designed to hold a catheter bag securely and out of sight. They are suitable for anyone managing a long-term or post-surgical catheter at home or in daily life, and are designed to look like regular trousers when worn.

Are these suitable for wheelchair users for everyday wear?

Yes. The soft waistbands, roomy seat, and side-opening design all make these pants significantly more comfortable for full-day wheelchair use than standard trousers. The side-opening also means a carer can assist with dressing without the patient needing to stand or transfer.

What sizes are available and how do I choose the right one?

Please refer to our size guide for exact measurements before ordering. If you are between sizes, we generally recommend sizing up for comfort, particularly if the pants will be worn over dressings, a catheter bag, or a brace. Our NZ-based team is also happy to help with sizing questions before you order.
